HOLD ON TO YOUR PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES!

HOLD ON TO YOUR PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES, PEOPLE!!

I’M RELEASING A NEW ALBUM!!!

That’s right.  The studio album scheduled for release this past summer has evolved into a case of “making miracles happen in the music industry!”  Hahaha…  Ok, this isn’t a musical miracle perhaps, but it certainly required some brainstorming, organizing and a good attitude.  😉

‘Miss Emily LIVE at The Isabel’ was birthed from a series of sound board recordings over the course of 2 ½ years and 6 sold-out Miss Emily shows at The Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.  Sifting through all of the tracks was a long process but a heart-warming one.  It reminded me of a different time of life, a different way of life and what I miss most about my career these days - performing shows for live music lovers.

I selected a playlist of unmixed tracks and shared them with some bandmates and buds.  Everyone threw in their two cents and what we ended up with was a soundtrack of tunes I couldn’t be more excited to share with you all.  Studio recorded music allows an artist to refine a track with multiple performance attempts and digital mastery.  An album of songs recorded in front of a live audience during a performance require all of the musicians and vocalists on stage to give a flawless (or near flawless) performance of each song.

Available on CD and most online music services this October 30th, ‘Miss Emily LIVE at The Isabel’ features 13 musicians, some of whom I’ve worked with for over 15 years.  The song selection includes previously recorded original Miss Emily tunes from the ‘Rise’ and ‘In Between’ albums as well as familiar cover tunes.  An unreleased song written by Kingston blues queen Georgette Fry and some new unreleased original Miss Emily tunes will round out the list.  Like anything I do, there is a huge list of people who work behind the scenes of every performance (especially the big Isabel shows!).  Without ever really knowing we would be releasing a live album at some point, a multitude of my awesome team members have become a crucial key to the success of this live album.  I share this album with every person who took part in the success of these shows, with a special shout out to each audience member who attended any of these shows.  You are a featured part of this album and I’m grateful for your abundance of cheering and applause for the live music all of us on stage loved making for you.

This new album will be a celebration for me of resilience during uncertain times.  In the music industry, working through uncertainties becomes second nature.  Pandemic times may have thrown us an extra tricky curve ball, but seeing as I haven’t jumped ship so far, I guess I’ll stick this thing out a little longer.

Having said all this, I have a question for you:  Have you ever met a retired musician?

Food for thought.

With peace and love and a new album,

Emily xo
